Manufacturing: BOM, routing and production orders

Describe a finished product with its planned inputs and operation sequence.

Goal: A testable production flow from material planning through finished output.

Before you begin

  • Raw-material and finished item masters
  • Operations, departments and machines where applicable
  • Approved BOM and routing
FOLLOW THE WORKFLOW

Step-by-step instructions

Complete and verify each stage before continuing.

  1. 01

    Prepare finished and raw items

Create the finished product and all required materials with correct UOMs, variants and relevant costs.

  2. 02

    Define operation masters

Create required operations and their active status. Configure departmental or machine mapping independently where supported.

  3. 03

    Build the bill of materials

Enter quantities and any applicable expense templates. Check BOM assumptions and the intended output quantity.

  4. 04

    Arrange the routing

Order operations into the correct sequence and review department handovers and capacity-related settings.

  5. 05

    Start a sample production order

Create the order through the available production workflow and check materials before issuing them.

  6. 06

    Record execution and output

Follow stage activity, exceptions and completion. Review costing, stock movements and production reports before live rollout.

Final verification checklist

  • BOM units match material masters
  • Operations follow planned order
  • Finished stock and consumed materials reconcile
Release or compliance note

Production Order and costing features have varied across releases. Verify your deployed build before committing live stock.
