Create customers, suppliers and groups
Create clean party masters before invoicing or settling balances.
Before you begin
- Party master permission
- Contact and GST details
- Defined customer/supplier groups
Step-by-step instructions
Complete and verify each stage before continuing.
- 01
Choose the correct master
Open Customer or Supplier depending on the commercial relationship. Avoid using one party type simply because a similarly named screen exists.
- 02
Set group and display name
Select or create the appropriate group, enter an unambiguous business name and check for an existing record before saving.
- 03
Enter tax and location data
Record GSTIN, state, address and contact details where applicable. Verify the legal name against provided documents.
- 04
Check linked accounting behaviour
Review the customer or supplier ledger and default balances as configured by the accounts team.
- 05
Add optional delivery locations
Use supported warehouse, shipping or address records if the customer or supplier operates at more than one delivery point.
- 06
Test party selection
Create a draft sales or purchase transaction and confirm that the selected party resolves to the correct legal and contact details.
Final verification checklist
- No duplicate party record
- Tax location is correct
- Appropriate group and outstanding balance
